U.S. Army Puts a Stop to Its Use of Chinese-Made DJI Drones

No longer Army material: DJI’s Inspired 1 drone.
Security concerns lead to ban of a popular brand of UAV.

Citing a worry over “cyber vulnerabilities,” the U.S. Army this week ordered that all drones built by China-based DJI, the world’s largest drone manufacturer be forthwith removed from Army service. The order comes following a classified study of the issue completed in May by the Army Research Laboratory, and the simultaneous release of a Navy memorandum titled “Operational Risks with Regards to DJI Family of Products.”

Drones to be banned from US National Parks

Drones are being banned more and more – and with the US Government moving to ban drones across all of it’s 401 National Parks

What is the US Government doing?

Two parks, including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, have already moved to ban drones. But this is now nationwide.

The National Park Service is taking steps to ban drones from 84 million acres of public lands and waterways, saying the unmanned aircraft annoy visitors, harass wildlife and threaten safety.

Jonathan Jarvis, the park service’s director, told The Associated Press he doesn’t want drones flushing birds from their nests, hovering over rock climbers as they cling to the sides of cliffs or buzzing across the face of Mount Rushmore.
